Former Husker glad to see NU moving to Big Ten
The college football hall of fame held its induction ceremony on Saturday in South Bend, Indiana. Former Husker Grant Wistrom was one of those who did a lot of damage while he played at Nebraska. A 49-2 record with three national championships, Wistrom earned two conference Defensive Player of the Year titles. He told the South Bend Tribune, He thinks it was the right decision that Nebraska will join the Big Ten."I'm very excited — just the big games they are going to be involved in and to be able to play in Columbus, Ohio, and Ann Arbor," Wistrom said. "I hope it works out well for everybody and I know it's a good thing for Nebraska. I hope that Nebraska is a good addition to the Big Ten."
Tour de France begins second day in Pyrenees
The Tour de France has begun its second day in the Pyrenees with all still to ride for. The positions of the leading riders remain unchanged after Sunday's first Pyrenean stage. Andy Schleck of Luxembourg has a 31-second lead over defending champion Alberto Contador of Spain. The two riders stuck with each other throughout Sunday's stage. Monday's 15th stage takes the 175 competitors 116.5 miles from Pamiers to Bagneres-de-Luchon, over the major climb of Port de Bales before descending to finish on the flat. The riders need to conserve some strength: the following two days of racing each include a climb of the infamous Col du Tourmalet. The race finishes in Paris on Sunday.
